TERMS OF SERVICE for COMMISSIONED digital WORKS

*revised 08/25/21*

First off, thanks for your interest in having me do a custom work! We’ve put together a comprehensive set of price/ground rules for you to review so you know what to expect during and after the creation process. It's a formidable wall of text, but we felt it was necessary to make sure both parties know what's expected of each other before committing!

I do:

  • Pop culture fan art of comic/movie/game characters

  • Your Original Characters

  • Twitch emotes/Avatar icons

  • Fursonas (furry/antrho)

  • D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) and RPG characters

  • Pets

  • Scene/landscape illustration

  • NSFW

I don’t do:

  • Not available to do work involving real life people/family caricatures at this time

  • I don’t draw anything with intense gore/violence or of an extreme fetishistic nature.

  • I’m not available to do any comic/sequential art.

  • I do not do logo or graphic design.

And if you haven’t already, I urge you to peruse my galleries here on the website to see what kind of subject matter I typically deal in!

You can request black and white digital sketches or go all in with full color.

basic sketch prices range from about $20 to $70 (from portrait to full body view)

Prices are divided by body visibility for a single character illustration. More body equals more money :D (Price for background is additional and will vary with complexity)

Portrait (Head and shoulder area) - $60 to $80

Added complexity like background, costume detail, wings, props, and pets will increase the price

Tap to browse portrait examples in gallery below (pinch to zoom if on mobile)

Half Body (Bust/torso) shot : $100-$120

Added complexity like background, costume detail, wings, props, and pets will increase the price.

Tap to browse for bust examples in gallery below (pinch to zoom if on mobile)

full body : $150 AND UP

Added complexity like costume detail, wings, props, and pets will increase the price.

Illustration - (Group shots/Large compositions) $200 to $500 & beyond

For when you need multiple characters/subjects in one cohesive composition involving a possible mixture of head shots, torsos, and full bodied poses

Looking for something more budget conscious?

If you’re looking to compromise between quality and price, I also offer a Simple Cel shaded Color option that puts the price somewhere between the Sketch and Full Color options, and the art will come out with a bold cartoony look.

Intricate Costume Detail Fee: $20-$100 additional

There may be an additional charge for characters with a high amount of intricate detail/costuming, such as outfits with Victorian/steampunk designs or densely mechanical suits. The pricing will be considered on a case by case basis.

Examples: (pinch to zoom if on mobile)

Photo-realism fee: 100%-200% extra (not currently available)

While it is very time and resource intensive, I can produce portraits of you or your friends (or pets) that stay true to whatever photographs you provide me. As it is sometimes difficult to perfectly nail a person’s exact likeness, there is a surcharge involved with this level of quality. However, depending on my schedule I may not be able to accommodate the workload, so I do it rarely.

background & text fee: $20 - $100

You can choose to have a simple color splash/accent as a background or go deep on some fully realized scenery.

A Simple color splash is no charge.

Scenery can add $20 - $100+

Revision Fee:

The creation method is a back and forth process! With each major step of the project I will be continuously sending you a snapshot of my work to get your approval before moving forward. In order to make the process as smooth as possible for both of us, I ask that you you make any requests for major changes up front during the SKETCHING phase. Major changes include facial expressions, body positioning (arm or leg revisions), head turns, etc. It’s no good for either party when I’m 5 to 10 hours into a project only to find out that I need to re-ink and re-paint a section of it when the issue could have been identified and fixed much earlier in the rough draft phase :) That being said, if you only need me to change a color or darken something, that will be no cost.

If you do need to request an emergency change after the initial sketch period, I’ll do my best to accommodate you at no charge. But if you continue to request more changes later on into the inking and painting phase, I will have to request additional payment for the added workload before continuing.

Commercial Use Fee, or TRANSFERAL of Copyright

If the work you commission is intended for commercial use and not for private enjoyment, or if you choose to own the copyright, an additional fee will be added on. See details below.

what you get

When the project is done, I will send you a high resolution PDF (or whatever file type you prefer) that is scaled at 11 x 17 inches. If you have a specific size format in mind, let me know early on and I’ll make it happen. With the digital file you can print the image on whatever medium you want such as:

  • a print at whatever dimension you want (you’re not limited to the 11x17 in scale)

  • a greeting card for holidays, wedding invitations, etc

  • on mugs, calendars, or other products at Print On Demand websites

I can also provide a web friendly jpeg for you to share on social media.

I can also send you an 11x17 in print of the newly finished art - you will just need to pay for the cost of printing, shipping and handling

Expected Completion Schedule:

Ideally, a single character commission can be completed within a week.  You will be notified before purchase if I have a lot of other projects going at the same time. This may slow your commission down by another 2-4 weeks depending on what I've got on my plate.  If you have a very strict deadline for your commission, let me know before work begins!

I will get progress emails out to you for approval as often and as quickly as possible.  Timely responses are very helpful in the completion of your commission!

Payment and Refund Policy:

I would prefer payment in full by the time of the project’s start. Alternatively, you can pay a portion to reserve your spot in line if I can’t get to your order right away.

Paypal is the preferred method of payment for online orders (I will send you an invoice if I take on a contract with you), but if we meet in person at a convention, then we can do cash/credit/debit.  In this case, I will draft and send an email to you as a record of payment.

Sorry, but NO REFUNDS on completed work!.  If at the initial revision stage it is decided that things are not going to go the way you had in mind, a partial refund will be sent to you, allowing a minimum of $15-$25 to myself for the sketchwork done, depending on complexity and completion of the sketches sent.

If you paid in advance and work has not been started yet, a full refund will be returned to you if you decide you no longer want the commission or if circumstances prevent me from giving your project the necessary time.

Copyright and Intent to Sell Completed Work

I’ve been drawing all my life and selling my works at fan conventions since 2006, and very recently I discovered that I could quit my day job of 9 years and support my family on just art income alone.  It really has been awesome to be able to say that I chased down my dream and actually didn’t go broke while doing it! So what I’m trying to say is, my craft is my livelihood. And after completing production of your custom art, I may want to add it to my gallery as a future print to sell. In other words, I retain the copyright of the image to reproduce, edit, print, or upload to online galleries.

Obviously, if I painted a picture of you, your friends, or your original characters, you retain the ownership rights of the characters depicted in the work, and I would not be allowed to create future works with those likenesses without your permission.

If you don’t want me selling prints of the work I do for you or you plan to resell the work commercially, then I will add a commercial licensing fee of at least $200 per completed work.  So if it comes down to this, please let me know before we sign off on starting the commission.

That’s It!

Now with that out of the way, please let us know what you're looking for (with as much detail as possible) and we'll get back to you!
